At Connect English, we offer 4 different courses so that our students can reach their goals. Check below what each program offers and the investment amount. In addition to the course load of each course, our students have access to supplemental class to learn and evolve even faster, all at no additional cost.

General English

This 18-hour per week program will help you improve your English comprehension and communication skills. It is our most popular option. Here is what to expect from this program:

  • American teachers and other students to talk to
  • Group work: talk every day and learn from other students
  • 3 lessons per day, 2 lessons for general English and 1 lesson for speaking & communication
  • Practice and improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills
  • Weekly tests/questionnaires show your progress
  • Advance to the next level when you are ready

Business English

This 18-hour per week program focuses on English in an international business environment. Students learn about business customs and practices from around the world, learning from American teachers, with students of various nationalities. Here is what to expect in our Business English classes:

  • Learn about the global economy and how English is an important part of business around the world
  • International English: understand accents from around the world (British, American and more)
  • Group work: practice your English with other students to work on projects and set business goals
  • Meet guest speakers from local California companies. Learn about various businesses and talk with real American business people
  • Learn grammar and vocabulary as it relates to a business environment

TOEFL

The TOEFL Max and TOEFL Focus programs are not test preparation courses – they are English language proficiency and life preparation courses!  TOEFL Max and TOEFL Focus are all about making high-level ESL learning fun and enjoyable. Develop language skills through a series of interesting TOEFL texts, audio passages, and intellectually-stimulating materials. Connect English uses TOEFL curricular materials as a base for this recreational program, not to prepare students for the TOEFL test, but rather as a vehicle for developing language proficiency and learning skills intended solely to assist students seeking a high-level in English as a second language. This class is not focused on passing the TOEFL test, nor does Connect English make assurances about any specific result on the TOEFL brand test. This class is all about self-improvement, making learning fun, and scoring high in the game of life which includes the development of English language skills.  Here is what to expect from our TOEFL classes:

  • Work with one of the coolest teachers in San Diego
  • Practice your English-language and learning skills through dynamic speaking, writing, listening, reading, vocabulary, and communication activities
  • Write, share ideas, and practice note-taking in creative ways
  • Informal weekly in-class assessment of various ESL skills to see how your English is growing

  • Our TOEFL class is about leveling up your English in a fun, challenging, and interactive way, with zero stress attached 
  • Forget about high-pressure test-taking in order to go beyond grammar and traditional methods: each book topic brings life lessons, prob solving general knowledge, perspective and a new ways for your to develop your English
  • Learn the “why” behind words: discover prefixes, roots, and connections that change the way you think about language
  • A dynamic rhythm: every week has its own theme, creating a full cycle of discovery
  • The same fun that all Connect English ESL classes offer students in their English-language journey utilizing cool, intellectual topics of the social sciences, natural sciences, and the humanities that are published in the ETS TOEFL book
  • A teacher, program, and curricular materials that make the English-learning process interactive, enjoyable, and never boring


TOEFL Max and TOEFL Focus high-level English language development programs:
This isn’t your typical English class nor is it a boring TOEFL test-preparation course. Our 18-hour per week TOEFL Max and 12-hour per week TOEFL Focus programs use real TOEFL materials to develop your English language skills because they’re challenging, authentic, and (believe it or not) fun! You’ll practice the kind of English used in universities, jobs, and everyday life, in order to improve your English-language skills all while enjoying the journey.

College Pathway Partnership

For students who dream learning more than just English in the United States, Connect English partners with colleges, universities, and professional schools to offer a pathway to direct admissions without the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo exams. We partner with accredited, higher education institutes that offer short- and long-term programs for any academic goal.

Start your journey at Connect English -> Take and pass our College Eligibility Test (English exam) -> Get direct admissions to one of our partner schools. Guaranteed admissions to community college.

Students accepted into the College Pathway Partnership receive:

  • A customized I-20 issued by Connect English that officially notes participation in the College Pathway Partnership
  • A personalized acceptance letter from Connect English confirming enrollment in the program
  • Conditional admission from one of our partner institutions

The College Pathway Partnership includes the same high-quality Intensive English and TOEFL-based English programs offered at Connect English, now aligned with multiple college partners.

The focus is on building strong academic English, developing confidence, and allowing students to transition naturally into higher education once they are ready.

Talk to your advisor about your goals. Programs include certificate, degree, undergraduate, and graduate (master’s) programs. Students are not required to choose a final academic program before arriving in the U.S. Instead, they can explore their options, improve their English, and build their academic plan step by step with guidance and clarity.

During the F-1 visa interview, students should be prepared to explain both their English learning goals and their academic goals. The College Pathway Partnership helps students present a clear and consistent plan that connects language study with future education.
